REAR COMPARTMENT LID WEATHERSTRIP SEAL OOZE-OUT

TO CORRECT A DECK LID WEATHERSTRIP SEALER OOZE OUT CONDITION ON ANY OF THE ABOVE VEHICLES, NEW SEALERLESS WEATHERSTRIPS HAVE BEEN RELEASED FOR SERVICE ONLY.

PART NUMBER FOR SEALERLESS WEATHERSTRIPS:

CAVALIER 27-69 20470877 CAMARO 87 20471808 CAVALIER 77 20470878 CHEVETTE 08-68 20470876 CITATION 08-68 20465850

SHOULD IT BECOME NECESSARY TO REPLACE A REAR COMPARTMENT OR HATCH LID WEATHERSTRIP FOR ANY REASON, REFER TO THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE:

REAR COMPARTMENT LID WEATHERSTRIP SEALER OOZE OUT CORRECTION

1. REMOVE OLD WEATHERSTRIP AND CLEAN ALL SEALER FROM FLANGE AROUND ENTIRE OPENING.

2. BRUSH 3M 8011 BLACK WEATHERSTRIP ADHESIVE OR EQUIVALENT ON BOTH SIDES OF THE FLANGE COMPLETELY AROUND THE OPENING.

3. APPLY A BEAD OF 3M 8011 OR EQUIVALENT INTO THE NEW WEATHERSTRIP CARRIER. ALLOW TO DRY UNTIL ADHESIVE BECOMES TACKY(APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES).

4. INSTALL NEW WEATHERSTRIP TO FLANGE AND ALLOW A MINIMUM OF 3 HOURS BEFORE CLOSING LID.

5. CLOSE LID AND WATER TEST REAR COMPARTMENT (MINIMUM 4 MINUTES).

6. IF WATERLEAKS OCCUR:

A. BE SURE WEATHERSTRIP IS FULLY SEATED ON FLANGE. B. APPLY ADDITIONAL 8011 OR EQUIVALENT UNDER WEATHERSTRIP OUTER LIP. C. REPEAT STEP 5.
