Some 1985 and early 1986 Cavaliers with 125C automatic transaxles may exhibit a noise generated by an interference condition between the plastic transaxle converter cover and the flexplate.
Vehicles exhibiting this condition may be repaired by replacing the plastic converter cover with the appropriate cover listed below:
ENGINE CONVERTER COVER ------ --------------- 2.0L 14094881 2.8L 14094882
On 1985 models install 3 new, shorter headed, torque converter bolts (P.N. 10021095) to improve the clearance between the bolt head and the cover.
Use applicable labor time and operation number.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
