Some customers driving 1988 Cavaliers with a 2.8L MPFI engine (VIN Code W) may comment regarding a higher than normal engine idle speed condition after engine start.
If customer comments are received concerning the higher engine idle speed, a new service PROM should be installed in the electronic control module. The new PROM may be obtained from GMSPO by ordering the appropriate part number (reference the chart below):
