SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE SEC. 6E3 DRIVEABILITY & EMISSION

Subject: REVISED INTAKE PLENUM BOLT TORQUE

Model and Year: 1991 CAVALIER, CORSICA, BERETTA AND LUMINA WITH 3.1L ENGINE

This bulletin updates the intake plenum bolt torque specification for the 1991 3.1 L (VIN T) engines used in front wheel drive applications. The current specification, found on pages 6E3-C2-9 and 6E3-C2-18 in DRIVEABILITY AND EMISSIONS (Section 6E3-C2), "Fuel Metering System," of the Service Manual is incorrect. The correct intake plenum bolt torque is 10.0 N.m (88 lb. in.). The intake plenum is shown in Figure 1.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
