Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to General Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information.
  2. Drain the transmission oil. Refer to Automatic Transmission Fluid/Filter Changing .
  3. Remove the oil pan attaching bolts and the oil pan.
  4. Remove the gasket.

  6. Remove the oil filter assembly.

  7. Object Number: 104458  Size: SH
  8. Remove the filter neck seal from the transmission case. Use a small screwdriver. Do not to score the case during removal. Discard the filter seal, it is not reusable.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 104455  Size: SH
  1. Install the new oil filter neck seal. Tap gently and evenly on the seal in order to prevent damage to the case bore or the seal.

  2. Object Number: 104464  Size: SH
  3. Install the new oil filter.
  4. Install the oil pan gasket and the oil pan. Use a new gasket if the sealing rings are damaged.
  5. Install the oil pan attaching bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 14N·m (124 lb in).

  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Fill the transmission to the proper level with Dexron® III oil.
  9. Inspect the oil pan gasket for leaks.
