Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  2. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to General Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information.

  4. Remove the 4th band servo cover bolts.

  5. Object Number: 104428  Size: SH
  6. Remove the 4th band servo cover.

  7. Object Number: 104431  Size: SH
  8. Remove the snap ring.

  9. Object Number: 104432  Size: SH
  10. Remove the 4th band servo piston seal ring.

  11. Object Number: 104433  Size: SH
  12. Remove the 4th band servo piston seal.
  13. Remove the 4th band servo piston.
  14. Remove the 4th band servo piston inner spring.
  15. Remove the 4th band servo piston pin.

  17. Remove the intermediate band servo piston spring.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 104435  Size: SH
  1. Install the intermediate band servo piston spring.

  2. Object Number: 104433  Size: SH
  3. Install the 4th band servo piston pin.
  4. Install the 4th band servo piston inner spring.
  5. Install the 4th band servo piston.
  6. Install the 4th band servo piston seal.

  7. Object Number: 104432  Size: SH
  8. Install the 4th band piston seal ring.

  9. Object Number: 104431  Size: SH
  10. Install the snap ring.

  11. Object Number: 104428  Size: SH
  12. Install the 4th band servo cover.

  13. Object Number: 104426  Size: SH
  14. Install the 4th band servo cover bolts.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  16. Lower the vehicle.
  17. Connect the negative battery cable.
