SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT THAT THE REAR COMPARTMENT LID LOCK RELEASE CABLE HANDLE IS HARD TO PULL - REQUIRES HIGH EFFORT.
CONDITION IS CAUSED BY AN INSUFFICIENT QUANTITY OF LUBRICANT IN REAR COMPARTMENT LID LOCK RELEASE CABLE ASSEMBLY.
APPLY CABLE LUBRICANT WITH J41741, CABLE LUBRICATOR, USING THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE:
1. OPEN REAR COMPARTMENT LID.
2. OPEN DOOR ON REAR COMPARTMENT LID LOCK RELEASE CABLE LATCH BOX, (FIGURE 1, ITEM 2).
3. UNSNAP REAR COMPARTMENT LID LOCK RELEASE CABLE END, (FIGURE 1, ITEM 1), FROM LOCAL CLIP IN REAR COMPARTMENT LID LOCK RELEASE CABLE LATCH BOX, (FIGURE 1, ITEM 2).
4. PLACE REAR COMPARTMENT LID LOCK RELEASE CABLE END, (FIGURE 1, ITEM 1), INTO J41741, CABLE LUBRICATOR, AND HAND TIGHTEN TOP SCREW. THIS WILL CREATE A TIGHT SEAL AROUND CONDUIT AND GROMMET.
5. ATTACH NOZZLE TUBE TO CABLE LUBRICATOR INSERTION HOLE AND NOZZLE TUBE TO CAN OF AEROSOL-PROPELLED SILICONE-BASED LUBRICANT.
6. DISPENSE SILICONE FOR 60 TO 120 SECONDS.
7. REMOVE REAR COMPARTMENT LID LOCK RELEASE CABLE END (FIGURE 1, ITEM 1) FROM J41741, CABLE LUBRICATOR, AND WIPE OFF EXCESS LUBRICANT.
