THIS BULLETIN UPDATES THE REMOVAL PROCEDURE FOR THE ABS MOTOR PACK IN SECTION 5E OF THE APPROPRIATE SERVICE MANUAL. THE NEW PROCEDURE NO LONGER REQUIRES THE REMOVAL OF THE MASTER CYLINDER OR BRAKE LINES. THIS WILL ELIMINATE THE NEED FOR BLEEDING THE BRAKES. THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES SHOULD BE FOLLOWED:
1994 J-CAR, 2.0L, 2.2L OR 3.1L ENGINE: =====================================
1. PERFORM GEAR TENSION RELIEF PROCEDURE.
2. DISCONNECT MOTOR PACK ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS.
3. REMOVE GEAR COVER SCREWS.
4. REMOVE SCREWS HOLDING MOTOR PACK TO MODULATOR ASSEMBLY (2).
5. REMOVE MOTOR PACK FROM ASSEMBLY.
6. INSTALL MOTOR PACK TO MODULATOR ASSEMBLY, REPOSITION BRAKE PIPES.
7. INSTALL SCREWS TO MOTOR PACK (2).
8. INSTALL GEAR COVER SCREWS.
9. CONNECT MOTOR PACK ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS.
10. PERFORM GEAR TENSION RE-HOME PROCEDURE.
1995 J-CAR, 2.2L OR 2.3L ENGINE: ===============================
1. PERFORM GEAR TENSION RELIEF PROCEDURE.
2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER DUCT CLAMPS AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTION.
3. REMOVE BATTERY FROM VEHICLE.
4. REMOVE RELAY CENTER CLIP AND POSITION ASIDE.
5. REMOVE AIR BOX ASSEMBLY.
6. DISCONNECT MOTOR PACK ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS.
7. REMOVE GEAR COVER SCREWS.
8. REMOVE SCREWS HOLDING MOTOR PACK TO MODULATOR ASSEMBLY (2).
9. REMOVE MOTOR PACK FROM ASSEMBLY.
10. INSTALL MOTOR PACK TO MODULATOR ASSEMBLY, REPOSITION BRAKE PIPES.
11. INSTALL SCREWS TO MOTOR PACK (2).
12. INSTALL GEAR COVER SCREWS.
13. CONNECT MOTOR PACK ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS.
14. INSTALL AIR BOX ASSEMBLY.
15. INSTALL RELAY CENTER CLIP.
16. INSTALL BATTERY TO VEHICLE.
17. INSTALL AIR CLEANER DUCT CLAMPS AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTION.
18. PERFORM GEAR TENSION RE-HOME PROCEDURE.
1994-95 "L" AND "N" CARS WITH 2.2L, 2.3L AND 3.1L ENGINE: ========================================================
1. PERFORM GEAR TENSION RELIEF PROCEDURE.
2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER DUCT CLAMPS AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTION.
3. REMOVE BATTERY FROM VEHICLE.
4. REMOVE RELAY CENTER CLIP AND POSITION ASIDE.
5. REMOVE AIR BOX ASSEMBLY.
6. DISCONNECT MOTOR PACK ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS.
7. REMOVE GEAR COVER SCREWS.
8. REMOVE SCREWS HOLDING MOTOR PACK TO MODULATOR ASSEMBLY (2).
9. REMOVE MOTOR PACK FROM ASSEMBLY.
10. INSTALL MOTOR PACK TO MODULATOR ASSEMBLY, REPOSITION BRAKE PIPES.
11. INSTALL SCREWS TO MOTOR PACK (2).
12. INSTALL GEAR COVER SCREWS.
13. CONNECT MOTOR PACK ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS.
14. INSTALL AIR BOX ASSEMBLY.
15. INSTALL RELAY CENTER CLIP.
16. INSTALL BATTERY TO VEHICLE.
17. INSTALL AIR CLEANER DUCT CLAMPS AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTION.
18. PERFORM GEAR TENSION RE-HOME PROCEDURE.
