For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Remove the oil pan drain bolt and allow oil to drain from the oil pan.
  2. Remove the oil filter.
  3. Remove the coolant jacket drain plug and allow coolant to drain from cooling jacket.
  4. Install oil pan drain bolt and the coolant jacket plugs.
  5. • Install the oil pan drain bolt.

    Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan drain bolt to 26 N·m(19 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    • Install the coolant jacket plugs.

    Tighten
    Tighten the coolant jacket plugs to 30 N·m(22 lb ft).

  6. If cleaning or repairing the engine block, it is not necessary to reinstall the plugs.
