DEFINITION: Transaxle is noisy is all gears.

Inspect that the gears are properly lubricated.

Are the gears properly lubricated?

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 2

Lubricate the gears.

Has the noise disappeared?

System OK

Go to Step 3

Inspect for worn or damaged wheel bearings.

Are the bearings worn or damaged?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Repair or replace the wheel bearings as needed.

Has the noise disappeared?

System OK

Go to Step 5

Inspect for worn, scored, or chipped input/output shaft gear.

Do any of these conditions exist?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 7

Repair or replace any worn or damaged gear.

Has the noise disappeared?

System OK

Go to Step 7

Inspect the differential housing for cracks or foreign objects between the shaft and the differential.

Do any of these conditions exist?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 9

Repair or replace the differential housing or housing components as needed.

Has the noise disappeared?

System OK

Go to Step 9

Inspect the output gear bearing for wear or damage.

Is the bearing worn or damaged?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 11

Repair or replace the output gear bearing as needed.

Has the noise disappeared?

System OK

Go to Step 11

Inspect for a loose shift rail guide bolt.

Is the shift rail guide bolt loose?

Go to Step 12

Go to Step 13

Tighten the bolt to specifications. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications

Has the noise disappeared?

System OK

Go to Step 13

Disassemble the transaxle. Refer to Transmission Case Disassemble
