DEFINITION: The Differential is noisy.

Inspect that the output bearing race retainer is installed rightside up.

Is the retainer in the correct position?

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 2

Correct the position of the output bearing race retainer.

Has the noise disappeared?

System OK

Go to Step 3

Inspect the detent holder cover.

Is it installed flush with the bore?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

Correct the position of the detent holder cover so that it is flush with the bore.

Has the noise disappeared?

System OK

Go to Step 5

Inspect the output shaft for wear or damage.

Is the shaft worn or damaged?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 7

Repair or replace the output shaft as needed.

Has the noise disappeared?

System OK

Go to Step 7

Disassemble the differential. Refer to Differential Case Disassemble
