Engine Coolant Inlet Pipe Replacement 2.2L

Removal Procedure

  1. Drain cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. Remove upper radiator hose and heater hose from radiator inlet pipe.
  3. Remove surge tank by-pass hose from radiator inlet pipe.
  4. Remove generator. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.

  5. Object Number: 193510  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect electrical from coolant sensor.
  7. Remove wiring harness from retainer on radiator inlet pipe.
  8. Remove nut and bolt retaining radiator inlet pipe.
  9. Remove inlet pipe stud from cylinder head.

  10. Object Number: 182862  Size: SH
  11. Remove radiator inlet pipe.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install radiator inlet pipe.

  2. Object Number: 182862  Size: SH
  3. Install radiator inlet pipe stud to cylinder head.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install nut and bolt to retain radiator inlet pipe.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten bolt/nut to 14 N·m (10 lb ft.).

  7. Install wiring harness to retainer on radiator inlet pipe.

  8. Object Number: 193510  Size: SH
  9. Connect electrical to coolant sensor.
  10. Install generator. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  11. Remove surge tank by-pass hose from radiator inlet pipe.
  12. Remove upper radiator hose and heater hose from inlet pipe.
  13. Fill cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
