Removal Procedure
- Remove the left sound insulator.
- Depress the accelerator
control cable tangs (1) from the pedal lever assembly.
- Remove the accelerator control cable from the pedal lever assembly.
- Remove the accelerator
cam splash shield retainers (1).
- Remove the accelerator cam splash shield (2).
- Remove the cruise control
cable (1).
- Release the accelerator
control cable lug (3) from the throttle body assembly.
- Depress the tangs on the accelerator control cable (1) while pulling
the accelerator control cable through the accelerator control cable bracket
(4).
- Remove the engine accelerator control cable out of the bracket.
- Remove the cable from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Route the accelerator
control cable through the accelerator control cable bracket (4).
- Press the accelerator control cable tabs (1) into the accelerator
control bracket.
Ensure tangs expand and properly seat.
- Install the engine accelerator control cable lug (3) to the throttle
body cam.
- Install the cruise control
cable (1).
- Install the accelerator
cam splash shield (2).
- Install the accelerator cam splash shield retainers (1).
- Install the cable (1)
to the pedal lever assembly, making sure tangs are fully expand and seated.
- Slip the accelerator cable through slot in rod of the accelerator
pedal and install the retainer in rod, being sure it is seated.
- Ensure the cable is completely seated in the throttle cam past
the retaining clips.
Important: Flexible components, i.e., hoses, wires, conduits, etc., must not be
routed within 50 mm (2.0 in) of moving parts of accelerator
linkage outboard of support unless routing
is positively controlled.
- Check for correct opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator
pedal. Make sure that the throttle valve reaches wide-open throttle position.
If the throttle valve does not, inspect
for damaged or bent brackets and lever.
- Install the left sound insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
