Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the left sound insulator.

  2. Object Number: 14159  Size: SH
  3. Depress the accelerator control cable tangs (1) from the pedal lever assembly.
  4. Remove the accelerator control cable from the pedal lever assembly.

  5. Object Number: 288300  Size: SH
  6. Remove the accelerator cam splash shield retainers (1).
  7. Remove the accelerator cam splash shield (2).

  8. Object Number: 374662  Size: SH
  9. Remove the cruise control cable (1).

  10. Object Number: 14168  Size: SH
  11. Release the accelerator control cable lug (3) from the throttle body assembly.
  12. Depress the tangs on the accelerator control cable (1) while pulling the accelerator control cable through the accelerator control cable bracket (4).
  13. Remove the engine accelerator control cable out of the bracket.
  14. Remove the cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 14168  Size: SH
  1. Route the accelerator control cable through the accelerator control cable bracket (4).
  2. Press the accelerator control cable tabs (1) into the accelerator control bracket.
  3. Ensure tangs expand and properly seat.

  4. Install the engine accelerator control cable lug (3) to the throttle body cam.

  6. Install the cruise control cable (1).

  7. Object Number: 288300  Size: SH
  8. Install the accelerator cam splash shield (2).
  9. Install the accelerator cam splash shield retainers (1).

  10. Object Number: 14159  Size: SH
  11. Install the cable (1) to the pedal lever assembly, making sure tangs are fully expand and seated.
  12. Slip the accelerator cable through slot in rod of the accelerator pedal and install the retainer in rod, being sure it is seated.
  13. Ensure the cable is completely seated in the throttle cam past the retaining clips.
  14. Important: Flexible components, i.e., hoses, wires, conduits, etc., must not be routed within 50 mm (2.0 in) of moving parts of accelerator linkage outboard of support unless routing is positively controlled.

  15. Check for correct opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Make sure that the throttle valve reaches wide-open throttle position. If the throttle valve does not, inspect for damaged or bent brackets and lever.
  16. Install the left sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
