J 21854-01 Pivot Pin Remover

Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

•	Air bag deployment

•	Personal injury

•	Unnecessary SIR system repairs

In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:

•	Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.

•	If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

1. Disable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
2. Remove the lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle .
3. Remove the multifunction switch. Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle .
4. Remove the windshield wiper and washer switch. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement - On Vehicle .
5. Remove the lock housing assembly. Refer to Lock Housing Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .
6. Remove the ignition switch assembly. Refer to Ignition Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .
7. Remove the tilt spring. Refer to Tilt Spring - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .
8. Remove the lower shaft components. Refer to Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .
9. Remove the 2 pivot pins using J 21854-01 .



10. Remove the bearing and housing assembly.
