Generator Replacement 2.4L

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 97629  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 2.4 L.
  3. Remove the generator bolts.
  4. Disconnect the generator electrical connections.
  5. Remove the generator.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 97629  Size: SH
  1. Install the generator.
  2. Connect the generator electrical connections.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the generator bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the generator bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  6. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 2.4 L.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

Generator Replacement 2.2L

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Disconnect the generator electrical connections.
  3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 2.2 L.
  4. Remove the generator bolts.
  5. Remove the generator.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the generator.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application.   3. Install the generator bolts.
  4. Tighten

        • Tighten the generator bolt (lower) to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
        • Tighten the generator bolt (upper) to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
  5. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 2.2 L.
  6. Connect the generator electrical connections.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
