Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement Pontiac
Removal Procedure
- Open the instrument panel
(IP) compartment in order to access the screws (2).
- Remove the screws (2) from the IP accessory trim plate (3).
- Remove the IP accessory trim plate (3) pulling rearward
in order to disengage the retainers.
Installation Procedure
- Position the tabs to the
IP accessory trim plate (3) to the slots on the IP (1).
- Install the IP accessory trim plate (3) pressing into place
until fully seated.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the IP accessory
trim plate screws (2).
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
- Close the IP compartment door.

Removal Procedure
- Disable the SIR system.

- Remove the instrument panel (IP) trim pad. Refer to
Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement
.
- Remove the screws (1) from the IP trim plate (3).
- Remove the IP accessory trim plate (3) pulling rearward
in order to disengage the retainers.
- Disconnect the electrical
connectors (3) and (5) from the IP.
Installation Procedure
- Connect the IP electrical
connectors (3) and (5).
- Align the
IP accessory trim plate tabs (2) to the retainers around the HVAC
control and the radio.
- Install the IP accessory trim plate (3) pressing into place
until fully seated.

must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring

Tighten

- Enable the SIR system. Refer to
