Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the instrument panel (IP) compartment outer door.
  2. Separate the outer door from the inner compartment door frame. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Door Replacement .

    Important: Note the position of the anti-rattle device to the latch, if equipped.

  3. Disconnect the anti-rattle device from the latch, if equipped.

  4. Object Number: 740269  Size: SH
  5. Remove the screws from the IP compartment door latch.

  6. Object Number: 740268  Size: SH
  7. Remove the door latch from the IP compartment door.

  8. Object Number: 740271  Size: SH
  9. Remove the door latch handle by pressing out from the front side.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 740275  Size: SH
  1. Position the door latch handle to the inside of the IP compartment door.

  2. Object Number: 740276  Size: SH
  3. Install the door latch handle by pressing in from the inside until fully seated.

  4. Object Number: 740268  Size: SH
  5. Attach the anti-rattle device to the door latch, if equipped.
  6. Position the door latch to the IP compartment door.
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the screws to the IP compartment door latch.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  10. Connect the anti-rattle device to the door latch mounting point, if equipped.
  11. Install the outer door to the inner IP compartment door frame.
  12. Install the IP compartment outer door. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Door Replacement .

  13. Inspect the IP compartment door for proper operation.
