Removal Procedure
- Remove the instrument panel (IP) compartment outer door.
- Disconnect the anti-rattle device from the latch, if equipped.
- Remove the screws from the IP compartment door latch.
- Remove the door latch from the IP compartment door.
- Remove the door latch handle by pressing out from the front side.
Separate the outer door from the inner compartment door frame. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Door Replacement .
Important: Note the position of the anti-rattle device to the latch, if equipped.
Installation Procedure
- Position the door latch handle to the inside of the IP compartment door.
- Install the door latch handle by pressing in from the inside until fully seated.
- Attach the anti-rattle device to the door latch, if equipped.
- Position the door latch to the IP compartment door.
- Install the screws to the IP compartment door latch.
- Connect the anti-rattle device to the door latch mounting point, if equipped.
- Install the outer door to the inner IP compartment door frame.
- Inspect the IP compartment door for proper operation.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
Install the IP compartment outer door. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Door Replacement .
