Circuit Description

The rear compartment lid release solenoid is controlled by the body control module (BCM). The BCM supplies battery positive voltage to the rear compartment lid release solenoid control circuit when the keyfob trunk release button is pressed. When the rear compartment lid release solenoid control circuit is open or shorted to ground while the BCM is commanding the rear compartment lid release solenoid on, DTC B3267 is set.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The BCM is commanding the rear compartment lid release solenoid on (keyfob button pressed).

Conditions for Setting the DTC

All of the following conditions must be met:

    • The BCM is commanding the rear compartment lid release solenoid on.
    • The rear compartment lid release control circuit is open or shorted to ground.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • The BCM turns off the rear compartment lid release solenoid control output for the remainder of the current ignition cycle.
    • The BCM stores DTC B3267 in memory.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • A current DTC B3267 will clear when the malfunction is no longer present.
    • All BCM history codes clear after 100 ignition cycles (from OFF to ON) with no current codes active during the 100 ignition cycles.
    • Current and history codes may be cleared using a scan tool.

Diagnostic Aids

  1. If the rear compartment lid release control circuit is shorted to ground and the rear compartment lid release solenoid is commanded on, the RFA BATT fuse will open.
  2. If the DTC is a history DTC, the problem may be intermittent. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.

Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. Listen for an audible click when the rear compartment lid release solenoid operates. Command both the ON and OFF states. Repeat the commands as necessary.

  2. Verifies that the body control module is providing voltage to the rear compartment lid release solenoid.

  3. Tests for an open in the ground circuit to the rear compartment lid release solenoid.

  4. Tests if voltage is constantly being applied to the rear compartment lid release solenoid.
