Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the assist strap, if equipped. Refer to Assist Strap Replacement .
  2. Remove the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  3. Remove the coat hooks. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
  4. Remove the windshield upper garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  5. On the sedan remove the following:
    6. 5.1. Remove the center pillar upper trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement
    5.2. Remove the upper rear quarter trim panel. Refer to Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  6. On the coupe remove the rear quarter trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement .
  7. Remove the dome lamp. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  8. Remove the finish lace from the sunroof opening trim, if equipped. Refer to Sunroof Opening Trim Finish Lace Replacement in Roof.
  9. Remove the sunroof power switch, if equipped. Refer to Sunroof Switch Replacement in Roof.

    10. Object Number: 280686 Size: SH
  10. Remove the push-in retainers from the headlining trim finish panel (3).
  11. Disconnect the connector to the rear view mirror and the body electrical harness.
  12. Disconnect the connector to the sunroof electrical harness.
  13. Lower the headliner (1).
  14. Remove the electrical harness from the headliner.
  15. Remove the headliner from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use care when removing and installing the headliner. If reusing the headliner lay the headliner down flat on a clean surface. Excessive bending will damage the headliner.

  1. Position the headliner in the vehicle.

    2. Object Number: 280686 Size: SH
  2. Use adhesive tape GM P/N 9986080 in order to connect the electrical harness to the headliner.
  3. Connect the connector to the rear view mirror and the body electrical harness.
  4. Connect the connector to the sunroof electrical harness.
  5. Install the push-in retainers (3) to the headliner.
  6. Install the dome lamp. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  7. Install the sunroof power switch, if equipped. Refer to Sunroof Switch Replacement in Roof.
  8. Install the finish lace to the sunroof opening trim, if equipped. Refer to Sunroof Opening Trim Finish Lace Replacement .
  9. On the coupe install the rear quarter trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement .
  10. On the sedan install the following:
    11. 10.1. Install the upper rear quarter trim panel. Refer to Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
    10.2. Install the center pillar upper trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement
  11. Install the windshield upper garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  12. Install the coat hooks. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
  13. Install the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  14. Install the assist strap, if equipped. Refer to Assist Strap Replacement .
