J 28467-B Universal Engine Support Fixture

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls-2.2 L.
  2. Disconnect the TV cable, if equipped. Refer to Automatic Transmission Throttle Valve Cable Replacement .
  3. Remove the power brake booster check valve and hose. Refer to Vacuum Brake Booster Check Valve and/or Hose Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.

  4. Object Number: 104328  Size: SH
  5. Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture in Engine Mechanical.
  6. Raise and Support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  7. Remove the engine mount strut. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement in Engine mechanical-2.2 L.
  8. Remove the left front tire and the wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  9. Remove the left front fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement in Body Front End.
  10. Remove the crossmember. Refer to Front Suspension Crossmember Replacement in Front Suspension.

  12. Remove the left front ABS wheel speed sensor connector.

  14. Remove the harness from the suspension support.
  15. Remove the left front ball joint. Refer to Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Replacement in Front Suspension.
  16. Remove the stabilizer shaft from the left lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement in Front Suspension.
  17. Remove the front suspension support. Refer to Front Suspension Support Brace Replacement in Front Suspension.
  18. Remove the left side drive axle from the transmission. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Wheel Drive Shafts.
  19. Remove the transmission cooler pipes. Plug in order to prevent leakage. Refer to Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Pipes Replacement .
  20. Remove the P/S Pressure line from the P/S gear. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement in Power Steering System.
  21. Plug in order to prevent leakage.

  22. Remove the P/S return line from the P/S gear. Refer to Power Steering Return Hose Replacement in Power Steering System.
  23. Plug in order to prevent leakage.

  24. Remove the transmission mount to body bolts.

  26. Remove the pipe expansion bolt from the transmission support assembly.
  27. Lower the engine and the transmission assembly just enough to be able to remove the transmission support assembly and the mount assembly.

  29. Remove the transmission mount from the transmission support assembly.

  31. Remove the transmission support assembly bolts.

  33. Remove the transmission support assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the transmission support assembly into the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 104237  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the transmission support assembly bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 75 N·m (55 lb ft).

  5. Install the transmission mount to the transmission support assembly.
  6. Raise the engine and the transmission assembly.

  7. Object Number: 104231  Size: SH
  8. Install the transmission mount to body bolts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 66 N·m (49 lb ft).

  10. Install the transmission pipe expansion bolt to the transmission support assembly.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).

  12. Install the P/S Pressure line to the P/S gear. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement in Power Steering System.
  13. Install the P/S return line to the P/S gear. Refer to Power Steering Return Hose Replacement in Power Steering System.
  14. Install the transmission cooler lines. Refer to Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Pipes Replacement .
  15. Install the left drive axle to the transmission. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Wheel Drive Shafts.
  16. Install the front suspension support. Refer to Front Suspension Support Brace Replacement in Front Suspension.
  17. Install the stabilizer shaft to the left lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement in Front Suspension.
  18. Install the left front ball joint. Refer to Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Replacement in Front Suspension.

  19. Object Number: 414399  Size: SH
  20. Route the left front ABS wheel speed sensor.

  21. Object Number: 414402  Size: SH
  22. Connect the left front ABS wheel speed sensor.
  23. Install the crossmember. Refer to Front Suspension Crossmember Replacement in Front Suspension.
  24. Install the left front fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement in Body Front End
  25. Install the left front tire and the wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  26. Install the engine mount strut. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement in Engine mechanical-2.2L.
  27. Lower the vehicle.

  29. Remove the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture in Engine Mechanical.
  30. Install the power brake booster check valve and hose. Refer to Vacuum Brake Booster Check Valve and/or Hose Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.
  31. Install the TV cable, if equipped. Refer to Automatic Transmission Throttle Valve Cable Replacement .
  32. Install the air intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls-2.2 L.
  33. Adjust the P/S oil level. Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid in Power Steering System.
  34. Inspect the transmission oil level. Transmission Fluid Check .
  35. .

  36. Inspect the transmission for oil leaks.
