Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
- Remove the automatic transmission control lever handle retainer.
- Remove the automatic transmission control lever handle.
- Remove the console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Remove the range select lever cable from the automatic transmission control.
- Position aside the park lock cable. Refer to Park Lock Cable Replacement
- Remove the electrical connector.
- Remove the automatic transmission control nuts.
- Remove the automatic transmission control.
Installation Procedure
- Install the automatic transmission control.
- Install the automatic transmission control nuts.
- Install the electrical connector.
- Install the park lock cable. Refer to Park Lock Cable Replacement
- Install the range select lever cable to the automatic transmission control.
- Install the console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Install the automatic transmission control lever handle.
- Instal the automatic transmission control lever handle retainer.
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m(18 lb ft).
