Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the oil pan and filter. Refer to Automatic Transmission Fluid Filter and Seal Replacement .
  3. Remove the oil feed pipes. Refer to Oil Feed Pipes Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 589165  Size: SH
  5. Remove the two intermediate/4th servo cover bolts, the servo and the spring.
  6. Disassemble, clean and inspect the intermediate/4th servo assembly. Refer to Automatic Transmission, Transaxle Unit Repair Manual.

Installation Procedure

  1. Assemble the intermediate/4th servo assembly. Refer to Automotive Transmission, Transaxle Unit Repair Manual.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the intermediate/4th band servo piston spring, the servo and the servo cover bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  5. Install the oil feed pipes. Refer to Oil Feed Pipes Replacement .
  6. Install the filter and the pan. Refer to Automatic Transmission Fluid Filter and Seal Replacement .
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Fill the transmission with DEXRON® VI fluid.
  9. Inspect the transmission oil level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check
  10. Important: It is recommended that transmission adaptive pressure (TAP) information be reset.

    Resetting the TAP values using a scan tool will erase all learned values in all cells. As a result, The ECM, PCM or TCM will need to relearn TAP values. Transmission performance may be affected as new TAP values are learned.

  11. Reset the TAP values. Refer to Transmission Adaptive Functions .
