Removal Procedure
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
in SIR.
- Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to
Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement
.
- Remove the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to
Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement
.
- Remove the retaining screws (2)
from the ignition switch assembly (3).
- Remove the ignition switch assembly (3) from the steering
column (1).
Installation Procedure
- Install the ignition switch
assembly (3) to the steering column (1).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the retaining screws (2) to the ignition switch assembly (3).
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 4 N·m(36 lb in).
- Install the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to
Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement
.
- Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to
Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement
.
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
in SIR.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
