High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement Rear Window Panel Mounted
Removal Procedure
- Open the rear compartment.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from
the high mounted stop lamp.
- Remove the bulbs/sockets (1) from the high mounted stop lamp.
- Remove the bulbs from the sockets.
- Remove the rear window panel trim. Refer to
Rear Window Shelf Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Pull the high mounted lamp (2) forward to disengage it from the
retaining slots (3).
- Remove the high mounted stop lamp from the rear shelf lifting up and out.
Installation Procedure
- Position the high mounted stop lamp lamp (2)
tabs (3) to the slots in the rear shelf.
- Install the high mounted stop lamp (2) pressing rearward until
the high mounted stop lamp in fully seated.
- Install the rear window panel trim. Refer to
Rear Window Shelf Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Install the bulbs to the sockets (1).
- Install the bulbs/sockets (1) to the high mounted stop lamp.
- Connect the electrical connector to the high mounted stop lamp.
- Close the rear compartment.
High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement Pontiac Rear Spoiler
Removal Procedure
- Open the rear compartment.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the high mounted stop lamp.
- Remove the screws (1) from the high mounted stop lamp.
- Remove the high mounted stop lamp from the rear spoiler, pulling the
wiring harness from the rear compartment lid.
- Remove the bulb/socket from the high mounted stop lamp.
- Remove the bulb from the socket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the bulb to the socket.
- Install the bulb/socket to the high mounted stop lamp.
- Install the wiring harness to the rear compartment lid.
- Install the high mounted stop lamp to the rear spoiler.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the screws (1) to the high mounted stop lamp.
Tighten
Tighten the high mounted stop lamp screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Connect the electrical connector to the high mounted stop lamp.
- Close the rear compartment.
High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement Chevrolet Rear Spoiler
Removal Procedure
Important: The high mounted stop lamp bulbs are not serviceable. The high mounted stop
lamp must be replaced as a unit.
- Open the rear compartment.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the high mounted stop lamp.
- Remove the screws (1) from the high mounted stop lamp.
- Remove the high mounted stop lamp from the rear spoiler, pulling the wiring
harness from the rear compartment lid.
Installation Procedure
- Install the wiring harness to the rear compartment
lid.
- Install the high mounted stop lamp to the rear spoiler.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
