Mode Control Cable Replacement Chevrolet

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 864456  Size: SH
  1. Remove the I/P trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  2. Disconnect the mode control cable from the mode door lever.
  3. Remove the cable flag retaining screw.
  4. Remove the HVAC control assembly. Refer to Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement .

  5. Object Number: 864491  Size: SH
  6. Release the flag from the mode base using the release tab.
  7. Remove the flag.
  8. Remove the cable end form from the lever post.
  9. Remove the temperature control cable.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 864491  Size: SH
  1. Install the mode control cable to the HVAC control assembly.
  2. Snap the flag into the mode base.
  3. Snap the cable end form over the lever post.

  4. Object Number: 864456  Size: SH
  5. Install the cable to the mode door lever/cam.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the cable flag and screw to the HVAC module assembly.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  9. Install the HVAC control assembly. Refer to Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement .
  10. Install the I/P trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the I/P carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  2. Disconnect the mode control cable from the mode door lever.
  3. Remove the cable flag retaining screw.
  4. Remove the HVAC control assembly.

  6. Release the flag from the mode base using the release tab.
  7. Remove the flag.
  8. Remove the cable end form from the lever post.
  9. Remove the temperature control cable.

  2. Snap the flag into the mode base.

  4. Install the HVAC control assembly.
