Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement Chevrolet

Removal Procedure

  1. Open the rear compartment lid.
  2. Pull back and remove the rear compartment trim as required. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement in Body Rear End.
  3. Remove the fasteners that attach the rear fascia to the quarter panel.
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  6. Remove the screws from the rear fascia in the rear wheel opening.

  7. Object Number: 349243  Size: SH
  8. Remove the center pins on each of the four retaining tabs to release the retaining tabs from the lower center of the rear fascia.
  9. Perform the following steps to remove the rear fascia:
  10. 7.1. Put down a protective cover to prevent damage to the rear fascia.
    7.2. With the aid of an assistant, pull both corners of the rear fascia away from the quarter panel.
    7.3. Pull the rear fascia from the center of the rear impact bar.
  11. Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear fascia.
  12. Remove the rear license plate lamp socket and bulb. Refer to Rear License Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  13. Remove the rear fascia brackets from the rear fascia.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the rear fascia brackets into the rear fascia.

  2. Object Number: 853477  Size: SH
  3. Install the rear license plate lamp socket and bulb. Refer to Rear License Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  4. Install the electrical connector to the rear fascia.
  5. Perform the following steps to install the rear fascia:
  6. 4.1. Align the rear fascia to the center of the rear impact bar.
    4.2. With the aid of an assistant, fit both corners of the rear fascia to the quarter panel.
  7. Install the push pin fasteners to the lower center tabs of the rear fascia.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  9. Install the screws to the rear fascia in the rear wheel opening.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Install the screws that attach the rear fascia to the quarter panel.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  14. Install the rear compartment trim as required. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement in Body Rear End.
  15. Close the rear compartment lid.

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 867850  Size: SH
  1. Open the rear compartment lid.
  2. Pull back and remove the rear compartment trim as required. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement in Body Rear End.
  3. Remove the fasteners that attach the rear fascia to the quarter panel.
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  5. Object Number: 349243  Size: SH
  6. Remove the screws from the rear fascia in the rear wheel opening.
  7. Remove the center pins on each of the four retaining tabs to release the retaining tabs from the lower center of the rear fascia.
  8. Perform the following steps to remove the rear fascia:
  9. 7.1. Put down a protective cover to prevent damage to the rear fascia.
    7.2. With the aid of an assistant, pull both corners of the rear fascia away from the quarter panel.
    7.3. Pull the rear fascia from the center of the rear impact bar.
  10. Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear fascia.
  11. Remove the rear license plate lamp socket and bulb. Refer to Rear License Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  12. Remove the rear fascia bracket from the rear fascia.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the rear fascia bracket into the rear fascia.
  2. Install the rear license plate lamp socket and bulb. Refer to Rear License Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  3. Install the electrical connector to the rear fascia.
  4. Perform the following steps to install the rear fascia:
  5. 4.1. Align the rear fascia to the center of the rear impact bar.
    4.2. With the aid of an assistant, fit both corners of the rear fascia to the quarter panel.
  6. Install the push pin fasteners to the lower center tabs of the rear fascia.

  14. Install the rear compartment trim as required. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement in Body Rear End.
  15. Close the rear compartment lid.
