Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 317815  Size: SH

    Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.

  1. Open and support the hood.
  2. Install a protective covering over the fenders.
  3. Remove the hood insulator, if equipped. Refer to Hood Insulator Replacement .
  4. Remove the hood latch striker. Refer to Hood Primary Latch Striker Replacement .
  5. Mark the upper hood hinge location to the hood with a grease pencil.
  6. With the aid of an assistant, remove the bolts which secure the hood hinge to the hood.
  7. With the aid of an assistant, remove the hood.

Installation Procedure

  1. With the help of an assistant, position the hood.
  2. Align the hood hinges to the alignment marks on the hood.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the bolts which secure the hood hinge to the hood.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  6. Install the hood insulator, if equipped. Refer to Hood Insulator Replacement .
  7. Install the hood latch striker. Refer to Hood Primary Latch Striker Replacement .
  8. Adjust the hood. Refer to Hood Adjustment .
  9. Remove the protective covering from the fenders.
  10. Remove the support and close the hood.
