Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement Chevrolet
Removal Procedure
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
and
SIR Disabling and Enabling
in SIR.
- Remove the instrument panel (I/P) trim pad. Refer to
Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement
.
- Remove the screws (1) from the I/P accessory trim plate (3).
- Remove the I/P trim plate (3). Pull rearward in order to disengage
the retainers (2).
- Disconnect the electrical connectors for the headlamp dimmer switch.
- Disconnect the electrical connector for the cigar lighter, if equipped.
Installation Procedure
- Connect the electrical connector for the
cigar lighter, if equipped.
- Connect the electrical connectors for the headlamp dimmer switch.
- Align the retaining tabs (2) with the I/P carrier.
- Install the I/P trim plate (3). Press the plate into the I/P carrier
to engage the retainers (2).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the screws (1) to the I/P trim plate (3).
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2.3 N·m (20 lb in).
- Install the I/P trim pad. Refer to
Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement
.
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
, and
SIR Disabling and Enabling
in SIR.

Removal Procedure
- Open the instrument panel (I/P) compartment
door in order to access the screws (2).
- Remove the screws (2) from the I/P accessory trim plate (3).
- Pull the I/P trim plate (3) rearward to disengage the retainers.
- Remove the I/P trim plate (3) from the I/P carrier (1).
Installation Procedure
- Align the tabs for the I/P trim plate (3)
to the I/P carrier (1).
- Push the I/P trim plate (3) into the I/P carrier (1) to
engage the retainers.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring

- Install the I/P accessory trim plate screws (2).
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Close the I/P compartment door.
