General Motors is introducing a new windshield wiper motor assembly for the 2003 models listed above. This change to the windshield wiper motor assembly should provide customers with a substantial improvement in performance. The most visible change to the dealer will be that the windshield wiper blade protector sleeves will now be on the vehicle when it is delivered by the carrier. These blade protectors are designed to improve the performance of the windshield wiper blades by protecting them from damage prior to delivery to the customer. Your dealership is encouraged to leave these protectors on the vehicle until just prior to delivery to the customer. To remove the protectors, gently pull the protector towards the cowl area of the vehicle until it is no longer covering the blade.
Important: Do not attempt to remove the protector by pulling them away from the vehicle. Failure to remove the protector sleeves prior to delivery may result in customer concerns of inadequate windshield wiper performance.
In addition to the protector sleeve, additional features of this new system are increased dimensional stability by the use of an integrated frame tube and transmission housing, a connector block for chattering reduction and an improved blade design that provides a wiping quality improvement along with noise reduction.
These new wiper motors, along with the protector sleeves, will be installed on vehicles at the assembly plant in early 2003.
