The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom
described in the PI.
Condition/Concern:
Customers may comment that the left or right tail lamp, brake lamp or turn signal
is inoperative.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Steps to take in order to prevent repeat failure of the rear tail/brake/turnsignal
bulbs:
- Using bulletin 04-08-42-004A, order the parts you need for repairs. Note:
YOU MUST USE A NEW SOCKET WITH A NEW BULB EVERYTIME.
- When you have the new parts, remove the bulb from the socket and bend
the metal electrial contacts to better grip the bulb terminals.
- Before reinstalling the bulb pack the socket with dielectric lubricant
or dielectric grease. (LOTS OF GREASE)
- Install the new bulb into the new socket.
- Complete repairs to that side of the vehicle.
- Next remove the opposite side brake/tail/turnsignal assembly and remove
the bulb.
- Tighten the terminals and pack the socket with dielectric lubricant or
dielectric grease and reinstall the bulb.
- Recheck for proper operation of both left and right hand Brake/Tail/Turnsignal
bulbs.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the
