J 42059 Cigar Lighter Socket Remover

Important: The Chevrolet is shown, the Pontiac is similar.

1. Remove the cigar lighter fuse.
2. Remove the cigar lighter element.
3. Position the steering wheel ½ turn to the right for access to the lighter.
4. Remove the cigar lighter housing by placing one side of the T portion of J 42059 into the tab window and angle the other side into the opposite tab window. Pull the lighter housing straight out.
5. Remove the tool from the lighter housing.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the cigar lighter housing.
7. Remove the cigar lighter retainer by pulling out with your index finger.

1. Position the cigar lighter retainer with the key to the slot into the cigar lighter hole.
2. Install the cigar lighter retainer, pressing the retainer into place until fully seated.
3. Connect the electrical connector to cigar lighter housing.
4. Align the cigar lighter housing to the cigar lighter retainer and press into place until fully seated.
5. Reposition the steering wheel.
6. Install the cigar lighter fuse.
7. Install the cigar lighter element.
8. Inspect the instrument panel lighter for proper operation.
