Condition

Some customers may comment that the glass steams up and the carpet is damp on the driver's side.

Cause

This condition may be caused by a lack of body sealant in two difference areas of the vehicle.

Correction 1

Reseal the cowl area.

  1. Remove the windshield wiper arms. Refer to SI Document ID #687940, Wiper Arm Replacement.
  2. Remove the air inlet grille. Refer to SI document ID #632111, Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement.
  3. Disconnect the wiper motor electrical connector.
  4. Remove the wiper drive system module screws.
  5. Remove the wiper drive system module from the vehicle.
  6. Clean the surface of dirt and debris.

  7. Object Number: 1581210  Size: MF
  8. Apply a bead of GM Medium Body Seam-Sealing Compound, or equivalent, across the cowl area as shown in illustration above.
  9. Install the wiper drive system module.
  10. Install the wiper drive system module screws.
  11. Install the wiper motor electrical connector.
  12. Install the air inlet grille. Refer to SI Document ID #632111, Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement.
  13. Install the windshield wiper arms. Refer to SI Document ID #687940, Wiper Arm replacement.

Correction 2

Reseal the pillar seam.

  1. Remove the fender. Refer to SI Document ID #741221, Fender Replacement Front.

  2. Object Number: 1581972  Size: MF
  3. Clean the surface of dirt and debris.
  4. Apply a bead of GM Medium Body Seam Sealing Compound, or equivalent, across the A pillar seam as shown in illustration above.
  5. Install the fender. Refer to SI Document ID #741221, Fender Replacement Front.
