Condition
Some customers may comment that the glass steams up and the carpet is damp on the driver's side.
Cause
This condition may be caused by a lack of body sealant in two difference areas of the vehicle.
Correction 1
Reseal the cowl area.
- Remove the windshield wiper arms. Refer to SI Document ID #687940, Wiper Arm Replacement.
- Remove the air inlet grille. Refer to SI document ID #632111, Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement.
- Disconnect the wiper motor electrical connector.
- Remove the wiper drive system module screws.
- Remove the wiper drive system module from the vehicle.
- Clean the surface of dirt and debris.
- Apply a bead of GM Medium Body Seam-Sealing Compound, or equivalent, across the cowl area as shown in illustration above.
- Install the wiper drive system module.
- Install the wiper drive system module screws.
- Install the wiper motor electrical connector.
- Install the air inlet grille. Refer to SI Document ID #632111, Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement.
- Install the windshield wiper arms. Refer to SI Document ID #687940, Wiper Arm replacement.
Correction 2
Reseal the pillar seam.
- Remove the fender. Refer to SI Document ID #741221, Fender Replacement Front.
- Clean the surface of dirt and debris.
- Apply a bead of GM Medium Body Seam Sealing Compound, or equivalent, across the A pillar seam as shown in illustration above.
- Install the fender. Refer to SI Document ID #741221, Fender Replacement Front.
