Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 384180 Size: SH
  1. Remove the rear bumper fascia. Refer to Fascia Replacement -- Rear Bumper in Bumpers in the 1998 J Platform Service Manual.
  2. Loosen the fill valve access cover nuts.
  3. Remove the fill valve access cover.
  4. Remove the hinge from the fill valve access cover.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the hinge to the fill valve access cover.

    2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
    Tighten the fill valve access cover hinge retaining bolts to 7 N·m (60 lb in).

  2. Install and adjust the fill valve access cover.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the fill valve access cover retaining nuts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  3. Install the rear bumper fascia. Refer to Fascia Replacement -- Rear Bumper in Bumpers in the 1998 J Platform Service Manual.
