Removal Procedure

  1. Relieve the CNG fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  5. Disconnect the fuel lines at the manual shut-off valve (MSV).
  6. Remove the MSV handle.
  7. Remove the MSV nut.
  8. Remove the MSV.
  9. Remove the MSV bracket mounting bolts and the bracket.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the manual shut-off valve bracket with the mounting bolts.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the MSV bracket bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  3. Install the MSV on the bracket.
  4. Install the MSV nut.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the MSV nut to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  6. Install the MSV handle.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the MSV handle screw to 1.8 N·m (16 lb in).

  8. Connect the fuel lines to the MSV using new O-ring face seals. Lubricate the O-rings with petroleum jelly or the equivalent.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel line fittings to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  13. Start the vehicle. Inspect for CNG fuel leaks at each serviced fitting using the J 41416 .
