Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 41416 Ultrasonic Leak Detector

    Object Number: 384174 Size: SH
  1. Relieve the CNG fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4. Remove the throttle cables from the retaining clip.
  5. Remove the gas distribution adapter. Refer to Gas Distribution Adapter Replacement .
  6. Disconnect the fuel line from the low pressure lock-off (LPL) solenoid.
  7. Disconnect the wiring harness connectors.
  8. Remove the AF module assembly bracket nuts and the bolts.
  9. Remove the module assembly.

Disassembly Procedure

  1. Remove the fuel line between the LPL and the LPR.
  2. Loosen the hose clamps on the vapor hose between the LPR and the GMS/MCV.
  3. Remove the GMS/MCV and the bracket from the module bracket as an assembly.
  4. Remove the LPR from the module plate.
  5. Remove the LPL and the bracket from the module bracket as an assembly.

Assembly Procedure

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the LPL and the bracket as an assembly to the module bracket.
  2. Tighten
Tighten the LPL bracket nuts to 12 N·m (108 lb in).

  3. Install the LPR to the module bracket.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the LPR bolts to 12 N·m (108 lb in).

  5. Install the GMS/MCV and the bracket to the module bracket.
  6. Tighten
Tighten the GMS/MCV bracket nuts to 12 N·m (108 lb in).

  7. Install the hose clamps on the vapor hose between the LPR and the GMS/MCV.
  8. Tighten
Tighten the hose clamps to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  9. Replace the O-rings in the CNG fuel line between the LPL and the LPR. Lubricate the O-rings with petroleum jelly or the equivalent.
  10. Tighten
Tighten the fuel line fittings to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  1. Install the module.
  2. Tighten

        • Tighten the module bracket flange nut to 9 N·m (84 lb in).
        • Tighten the module bracket bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
  3. Install the gas distribution adapter. Refer to Gas Distribution Adapter Replacement .
  4. Connect the electrical connectors. Route the connectors through the clips.
  5. Connect the fuel line to the LPL using a new O-ring. Lubricate the O-ring with petroleum jelly or the equivalent.
  6. Tighten
Tighten the fuel line fitting to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Install the throttle cables to the retaining clip.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable.
  9. Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  10. Start the engine. Inspect for CNG fuel leaks at each serviced fitting using the J 41416 .
