To assure an acceptable color match after refinishing 1982 passenger cars, the correct paint must be ordered.
It is essential that the type of production paint (acrylic lacquer, waterborne and high solid enamel) be determined. The correct color and paint type can be determined by referring to the body identification plate (See Figure 1 and 2).
On six (6) colors, acrylic lacquers and high solid enamels do not have the same color standards. These six (6) colors, which have double standards, have the following codes: 16, 21, 45, 55, 68 and 72 .

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
