COLOR CHANGE ON PAINT CODES 21E AND 45E

Subject: COLOR CHANGE ON PAINT CODES 21E AND 45E 1982 CAMARO - NORWOOD PRODUCTION ONLY

High solid enamel paint is used at the Norwood Assembly plant. The letter "E" is used to designate high solid enamel. Paint Code 21E and 45E have been reformulated to achieve a better color match between fascias and the body sheetmetal.

On early production vehicles, paint Code 21E appears on the body plate. Starting approximately February 15, 1982 (02C), the paint code on the body plate was changed to 21EN to identify the reformulated paint. The "N" will follow the "E" designation on the body plate. To satisfactorily match the paint finish, make certain the correct refinish color is used. Both colors will have new WA numbers: Code 21EN, WA-8274 and color 45E, WA-8235 (Figure 1).

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
