ENGINE ROUGH VOLTAGE SPIKE FROM ACCESSORIES

Subject: THROTTLE STOP SCREW PLUG REMOVAL - 1982 VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THROTTLE BODY INJECTION

If it becomes necessary to remove the throttle stop screw plug(s) to adjust minimum idle speed on the single TBI 300, or the minimum idle speed and/or throttle balance on the TBI 400 (crossfire injection), the method illustrated permits on-car plug removal. Removal of the unit(s) from the manifold for this purpose is no longer required. Refer to attached illustration.

Refer to figure:

1) FROM TIP, PRICK PUNCH OVER CENTER LINE OF THROTTLE STOP SCREW AS INDICATED

2) DRILL 5/32" DIA. HOLE THRU CASTING TO HARDENED PLUG.

3) USING 1/16" DIA. PUNCH, PUNCH THRU BOTTOM OF DRILLED HOLE TO REMOVE PLUG.

PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT TAMPER WITH THROTTLE STOP SCREW ON THE FRONT INJECTOR OF THE 2 X 1 SYSTEM AS THERE IS CURRENTLY NO PROCEDURE FOR PERFORMING THIS ADJUSTMENT IN THE FIELD.
