Beginning early September, 1981, all THM 125C transmissions were built with a new design solenoid and clip assembly. See Figure 1.
1. The new design solenoid and clip assembly includes a plastic clip to prevent the wire from moving off location during assembly.
2. The new design solenoid and clip assembly and the past design solenoid assembly can be used interchangeably. However, due to the difference of the wire length, the plastic clip, which is available for service separately, cannot be fitted on the past design solenoid assembly.
3. When replacing a past design solenoid assembly with a new design sole- noid and clip assembly, remove the metal clip attached to the valve body and do not reuse. Connect plastic clip as shown in Figure 2.
4) Use the following chart to determine the correct service part number.
The clip is available as a separate part and can be ordered using Part Number 8637855.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
