Recently a new design Electronic Control Module (ECM) has been introduced into production. This new ECM is referred to as a 2-board ECM versus the first design (3-board).
This new ECM was introduced on later built Citation and Celebrity models equipped with the 2.5L EFI L4 engine.
The most significant difference is size. The new ECM is narrower than the first design (3-board) ECM. A vehicle equipped with a 2-board ECM should not be serviced with a 3-board ECM.
Included in this bulletin is a list of PROM part numbers and their usage. Some of this information is not found in the parts catalog and should be used for reference.
Service part number for the 2-board (second design) ECM is 1225610. The service part number for the 3-board (first design) ECM is 1225570.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
