1982 CELEBRITY AND CITATION MODELS EQUIPPED WITH THE BASE FOUR (4) CYLINDER, 2.5L T.B.I. ENGINE AND OPTIONAL GAUGE PACKAGE UTILIZE P/N 14039662 RELAY TO DIRECT INITIAL FIELD CURRENT TO THE DELCOTRON. WITHOUT THIS RELAY, CURRENT IS NOT CONDUCTED TO THE DELCOTRON FOR FIELD EXCITATION, AND THE DELCOTRON WILL NOT CHARGE THE BATTERY PROPERLY. THIS RELAY IS LOCATED UNDER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL NEAR THE FUSE BLOCK. THE CONNECTOR IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE I/P WIRING HARNESS. IT HAS THREE (3) CAVITIES AND LIGHT BLUE AND BROWN WIRING AS SHOWN ON PAGE 8A-312, 1982 CELEBRITY AND CITATION SHOP MANUAL. WHEN DIAGNOSING FOR CHARGING SYSTEM MALFUNCTION, VERIFY PRESENCE OF RELAY PRIOR TO ADDITIONAL CHECKS.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
