'G' SERIES POWER ANTENNA REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

THE SUBJECT MODELS NOW USE A ONE-PIECE WELDED INNER TO OUTER FENDER PANEL. FOR THIS REASON, IT IS NO LONGER POSSIBLE TO UNBOLT THESE 2 PANELS TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE POWER ANTENNA ASSEMBLY. THE FOLLOWING POWER ANTENNA REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION PROCEDURE SHOULD BE USED IN PLACE OF THE PROCEDURE FOUND IN THE 1982 PASSENGER SHOP MANUAL (ST-329-82) SECTION 9, PAGE 9-16. REMOVAL 1.DISCONNECT NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE (2 NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLES WITH DIESEL). 2.WITH DIESEL EQUIPPED VEHICLES: A.REMOVE RH FENDER BRACE (2 SCREWS) AND DISCONNECT ENGINE BLOCK HEATER CORD FROM BRACE. B.DISCONNECT RH BATTERY POSITIVE CABLE. C.REMOVE RH BATTERY HOLD DOWN AND REMOVE BATTERY. D.REMOVE RH BATTERY TRAY (4 BOLTS). E.REMOVE 2 WHEELHOUSE-TO-FENDER INNER PANEL BOLTS BELOW BATTERY TRAY. F.DISCONNECT GLOW PLUG RELAY LEADS. 3.DISCONNECT COOLANT OVERFLOW HOSE AT RADIATOR AND PLUG. REMOVE COOLANT JUG. 4.REMOVE CHARCOAL CANISTER AND CANISTER HOSES. (GAS ENGINES ONLY.) 5.DISCONNECT VACUUM LINES FROM VACUUM TANK AND REMOVE TANK. 6.DISCONNECT ANTENNA LEAD-IN AND POWER ANTENNA LEADS, REMOVE LEADS FROM FENDER CLIPS. 7.RAISE CAR. 8.REMOVE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL. 9.REMOVE RH WHEELHOUSE-TO-FENDER BOLTS (12 BOLTS). 10.REMOVE WHEELHOUSE PANEL THROUGH WHEEL OPENING. 11.OPEN RH FRONT DOOR AND REMOVE POWER ANTENNA TO BRACE BOLT THROUGH DOOR JAMB OPENING. 12.REMOVE ANTENNA ESCUTCHEON NUT USING TOOL J-28641. INSTALLATION 1.INSTALL ANTENNA ASSEMBLY AND HOLD IN PLACE WITH ESCUTCHEON NUT, BUT DO NOT TIGHTEN. 2.INSTALL POWER ANTENNA TO FENDER BRACE BOLT THROUGH RH DOOR JAMB. DO NOT TIGHTEN. 3.TIGHTEN ESCUTCHEON NUT TO 5 N.M (45 LB. IN.) USING TOOL J-28641. 4.TIGHTEN ANTENNA-TO-FENDER BRACE BOLT. 5.FEED ANTENNA LEAD-IN AND POWER ANTENNA LEADS THROUGH OPENING IN FENDER INNER PANEL INTO ENGINE COMPARTMENT. 6.INSTALL WHEELHOUSE PANEL THROUGH WHEEL OPENING AND INSTALL WHEELHOUSE TO FENDER BOLTS (12 BOLTS). 7.INSTALL RIGHT FRONT WHEEL. 8.LOWER CAR ON HOIST. 9.RECONNECT ANTENNA LEAD-IN AND POWER LEADS. ROUTE LEADS THROUGH FENDER CLIP. 10.INSTALL VACUUM TANK TO WHEELHOUSE PANEL AND RECONNECT VACUUM LINES. 11.INSTALL COOLANT JUG AND RECONNECT COOLANT OVERFLOW HOSE TO RADIATOR. 12.ON VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH GAS ENGINE, INSTALL CHARCOAL CANISTER AND HOSES. 13.WITH DIESEL EQUIPPED VEHICLES: A.RECONNECT GLOW PLUG RELAY LEADS. B.INSTALL (2) WHEELHOUSE-TO-FENDER INNER PANEL BOLTS BELOW BATTERY TRAY. C.INSTALL RH BATTERY TRAY (4 BOLTS). TORQUE TO 17 N.M (150 LB. IN.). D.INSTALL RH BATTERY AND BATTERY HOLD DOWN. TORQUE HOLD DOWN BOLT TO 8 N.M (70 LB. IN.). E.CONNECT RH BATTERY POSITIVE CABLE. F.INSTALL RH FENDER BRACE (2 BOLTS) AND REATTACH ENGINE BLOCK HEATER CORD TO BRACE. 14.RECONNECT NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE (2 CABLES ON DIESEL). 15.CHECK FOR PROPER OPERATION AND ADJUST ANTENNA TRIMMER.
