SOME 1982-83 CELEBRITY AND CITATION VEHICLES WITH 2.5L (LR8/LW9) ENGINES AND AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLES MAY EXPERIENCE AN IDLE SHAKE WHICH CAN BE FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL OR MAY BE DETECTED VISUALLY ON THE DASH. NEW TORQUE STRUT (P/N 14077715) AND ENGINE MOUNT (P/N 14073097) HAVE BEEN RELEASED TO HELP ALLEVIATE THIS CONDITION. THE NEW PARTS GIVE MORE COMPLIANCE TO THE ENGINE PITCH; THEREFORE, REDUCING SHAKING LOADS INTO THE VEHICLE. THE FOLLOWING STEPS SHOULD BE TAKEN IN SERVICING A VEHICLE FOR THIS CONDITION: 1. MAKE SURE THE PROCEDURES IN THE PREVIOUS BULLETINS (82T98, 82T26, AND 83T26) HAVE BEEN PERFORMED. 2. CHECK FRONT AND REAR TRANSMISSION TO FRAME MOUNTS IN THE AREA OF THE INTERLOCK FINGER AND CLEAR OUT RUBBER FLASH IN THAT AREA. 3. INSTALL NEW TORQUE STRUT AND MOUNT LISTED ABOVE AND ADJUST. USE APPLICABLE LABOR OPERATION.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
