WIND NOISE/WATER LEAK WEATHERSTRIP SEAM SPLITS

Some Celebrity models may have a separation in the upper corner joints of the rear door opening weatherstrip. This separation may create a windnoise or water leak condition. The affected vehicles will be within the following breaking points.

Chevrolet: 2G1AW19XOD1826164 to 2G1AW19X5Dl829643

To determine if the condition exists, apply finger pressure just beside the corner joints in the weatherstrip. If a gap appears, the weatherstrip can be repaired using the following repair procedure and Permabond 105 adhesive or equivalent.

1. Remove all previous glue by peeling or by sanding.

2. Apply Permabond 105 or equivalent sparingly to one side of the joint, then hand hold the joint together for 15 to 30 seconds.

3. Let the repair area stand for at least 15 minutes before closing the door. Cycle the door a number of times to determine proper bonding.

4. Apply a silicone emulsion such as GM 992877 to the weatherstrip to water proof the joint.

Permabond 105 adhesive can be ordered through:

Permabond 480 South Dean Street Englewood, NJ 07631 (201) 567-9494 1-800-526-4741

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
