The attached revised Chassis service Manual Radial Tire Lead/Pull Correction Chart should be used for diagnosis of lead/pull comments on all front-wheel drive cars.
Do not use the charts in the 1987 Cavalier, Celebrity, Corsica or Beretta Chassis Service Manuals. This chart provides a more consistent and efficient method of diagnosis and correction of lead/pull comments by calling for the front tires and wheels to be cross-switched before any alignment checks or corrections are made. Many lead/pull comments have been traced to tire conicity conditions and the revised charts will lead to quicker identification and correction of this condition.
The revised chart will be incorporated into the 1988 chassis service manuals.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
