During service repairs on a DA-6 compressor equipped car, it is possible to attach the suction and pressure lines 180 degrees off, resulting in the lines being reversed.
Because of the compressor's various vehicle applications, it is possible to get a compressor out of stock or to assemble the compressor head to the front cylinder 120 degrees either direction from standard. If this misorientation condition occurs, the A/C lines can be put on reversed. Refer to Service Manual Section 1D2 for proper orientation procedures.
The symptoms for the above line reversal condition will be:
o No cooling o Low high pressure side o High low pressure side
Use illustrations, Figure 1 and 2, for identification of parts for proper line installations.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
