ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP HUM
Some 1985 Celebrity station wagons with LB6 engine may exhibit a low frequency hum audible at engine idle.
This low frequency hum may be the sound generated by the intank fuel pump and transmitted into the vehicle passenger compartment. Although not indicative of a malfunctioning fuel pump, this condition maybe a cause of dissatisfaction with some vehicle owners.
Elimination of this condition maybe achieved by the installation of a new service fuel level sender and pump assembly, P/N 25091799, available from GMWDD.
Refer to the appropriate service manual for proper removal and installation procedures.
Use applicable labor time and operation number.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
