NON-REPAIRABLE POLICE- SPEEDOMETERS, REPLACEMENTS

LATE IN THE 1983 MODEL YEAR, SPECIAL POLICE SPEEDOMETERS WERE RELEASED TO RETAIN CALIBRATION OVER A WIDE RANGE OF TEMPERATURES. THESE SPEEDOMETERS, AND THOSE USED IN SUBSEQUENT MODEL YEARS, WILL NOT BE REPAIRABLE. THE SPECIAL POLICE SPEEDOMETERS RELEASED TO DATE ARE LISTED BELOW: PART NO. APPLICATION 25076605 1983-4 CHEVY B - U.S. - 3 SPD 25077842 1983-4 CHEVY B - U.S. - 4 SPD 25076129 1984-5 CHEVY A - U.S. 25076130 1984-5 CHEVY A - CANADIAN 25078352 1985 CHEVY B - U.S. 25078353 1985 CHEVY B - CANADIAN THESE SPEEDOMETERS MUST BE REPLACED AS ASSEMBLIES, RATHER THAN REPAIRED BY COMPONENTS. WHEN REPLACED, THE ODOMETERS SHOULD NOT BE RESET TO ACTUAL VEHICLE MILEAGE. (TO DO SO WOULD DESTROY CALIBRATION.) STICKERS SHOULD BE AFFIXED TO DRIVERS' DOORS INDICATING MILEAGE AT THE TIME OF SPEEDOMETER REPLACEMENT.
