Some 1985-87 Celebritys equipped with a 2.8L MPFI V-6 engine may exhibit a no start condition when parked in a nose down attitude of approximately 15 degrees with less than a quarter of a tank of fuel.
This condition may be caused by air/fuel vapor ingestion through the vapor rejection port of the fuel pump resulting in fuel starvation.
Celebritys exhibiting this condition may be repaired by installation of an intank fuel pump that incorporates usage of a vapor rejection port with an umbrella check valve.
Service kits which include pumps with this feature are noted below by applicable model year and are available from GMSPO.
Use applicable Labor Operation Number and Time.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
