CANADIAN SERVICE MANUAL SUPPLEMENT REVISIONS

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1985 'A', 'N', and 'X' Series Vehicles Equipped With Canadian Calibrated Engines (NM5)

The following are additions or corrections which should be made in your copies of the 1985 Canadian Service Manual Supplement.

1. Figures 6A4-25 through 6A4-29 on page 6A4-21 should indicate an engine displacement of 2.8L rather than 2.0L.

2. Figure 7 on page 6E3-7 should be titled '2.5L ECM Wiring Diagram - Page 1 (N and X Series)'.

3. Figure 0A-4a on page 0A-2 should indicate that only 'X' series vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions and 2.5L LR8 (V.I.N. Code R) or 2.8L LE2 (V.I.N. Code X) engines are recalibrated for Canada. 'X' Series vehicles equipped with manual transmissions are not recalibrated. Vehicles equipped with Canadian calibrated engines display a Vehicle Emission Control Information label indicating 'Canadian Certification' as shown on page 0A-1. Also, Canadian calibrated engines do not have oxygen sensors.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
